1. Internet and live streaming update

In 2022 we had terrible trouble with the internet which impacted our live stream quality and availability. We are working with the hotel and their service providers to improve the situation for 2023. We will be recording the stream locally this year and if needed we can upload those recordings if we have problems again.

2. Speaker updates

We have a packed list of speakers this year. We are exited to annouce that we will have a special presentation from OneJoyfulday developer Samuli Holopainen presenting "AI Kills All Humans." We will also be joined by Andre Kudra who just spoke at Amiga38 to talk about the Amiga Demoscene!

3. Exhibitor updates

The exhibit hall has been expanded and is FULL! In 2022 we had a total of 23 tables, for 2023 we have 38! Recent additions include Chris Satterfield with a collection of Acorn systems, Bill Borsari with Pi-Storm32-lite powered A1200, and a special presentation of AmigaOS 3.3 Alpha from SACC's own Brian Carpignano.

2. Show Schedule posted

The AmiWest schedule page has been updated with the show schedule. This year will see the return of some old friends, like RJ, Doug, Trevor, Matthew, and Micheal Schultz. We will also have presentations from new folks like Ricardo Quesada, and the banquest presentor Garry Hare. As with the last few years the presentation time should adjust to browser local time.

3. DevCon Survey

Planning for the AmiWest 2023 DevCon is underway. To make the discussions as relivant as possible we created a quick survey. You can fill it in here. If we skip a topic this year the survey will help us plan future years as well.

AmiWest 2023 Oct 12th-15th

Hello Amiga Community,

AmiWest 2023 is coming fast! Going strong since 1998, this year will be the 26th year of the longest-running Amiga-focused show in the world. Set in Sacramento, CA, the Sacramento Amiga Computer Club and a dedicated group of volunteers host the event.

Kicking off on October 12th is the AmiWest Developer Conference. AmiWest has been hosting a DevCon for about a decade. This is two days of focused learning and sharing from experts worldwide on the latest AmigaOS developments, and this year will be no different. Hosted by Steven Solie, lead developer on the ExecSG team, the DevCon will cover various AmigaOS flavors, discussing topics like debugging, DMA routines, and more.

The main exhibition opens at 10:00 AM on Oct 14th. Trevor Dickinson of A-Eon will launch the show with A-Eon news and announcements. Following Trevor will be a full schedule of speakers from across the globe. Speakers include RJ Mical (original Amiga dev), Michal Schulz (author of EMU68k ), and more. For those who can’t make it, we will livestream the day on YouTube. All the details are on the AmiWest webpage.

The exhibit hall will feature over 10 exhibitors. Many returning friends of the show, like Doug Compton of 10 MARC and Mr. Toast. We also expect Matthew Leaman of AmigaKit to return to the show for the first time since 2017. Also joining us for the first time is Ricardo Quesada with his UniJoySticle2 product. The banquet starts at 7 PM on Saturday, October 14th, featuring Garry Hare, Ph.D. He was the CEO of Amiga Inc. from 2003 to 2005, directly following Bill McEwen. You can read more about Garry's involvement in the latest edition of "From Vultures to Vampires" volume two. Garry will provide unique insights into Amiga's history from a rarely heard voice.

The SACC Sales Table will be back, offering a variety of Amiga parts, books, and software. There will also be some complete Amiga classic systems for sale! We expect to have on sale an A2000 and an A500, possibly more,

The show will also have a raffle filled with cool gadgets for all your computers. After you grab your raffle tickets, be sure to stop by the game's competition table and give Knightmare a spin for a chance to win this year's trophy.

1. DevCon update

DevCon at AmiWest 2023 will be hosted by Steven Solie. The DevCon will cover developing various AmigaOS flavors. Steven Solie will share the latest developments of ExecSG. We will also discuss debugging code, DMA routines, and more. If you want to present or be involved in the AmiWest DevCon, drop us a line at inf0[at]amiwest dot net.

4. Show hotel update

The show hotel isfilling up, and rooms are limited due to other events in the area. The AmiWest show block expires on September 10th. You must book your stay before that date to ensure you get the show rate and a room! Once the AmiWest room block is taken, the hotel will be sold out. Visit the reservation page for details.

Reminder sign-up is available now, so reserve your spot now. We request everyone who wants to attend the banquet to register by September 10th so we can provide an accurate count to the caterer.

2. Banquet speaker announcement

The AmiWest planning team is excited to announce that Garry Hare will be the featured speaker in 2023. Garry who? Garry has a distingished history in Media Strategy and Innovation along with a short time as the CEO of Amiga Inc. Garry's story will be featured in the upcoming volume two of Vultures to Vampires. This was the person who took over Amiga Inc. directly after Bill McEwen.

3. Return of a dear friend of AmiWest, Trevor Dickinson

Trevor, long time sponsor of the show, writer, and DM of A-Eon will return to AmiWest in 2023. We are excited to have him return in person after supporting us virtually during the quarantine years.

2. New planning team members are on the AmiWest team!

We've gotten a jump start on planning for this year! New team members are involved and new ideas are flowing. Amiga is the Creative Computer and our planning team exemplifies that ethos. They are already actively planning new activities and expanding our traditional show to give us a new "best AmiWest" for 2023. Here is a list of the current planning team:

3. New facility facelift completed.

For those who attended AmiWest 2022, the facelift to our facility was not yet complete. This caused some inconvenience which was mostly borne with good humor. The facility is completed for 2023 with a new breakfast room, new furniture in the new lobby, and newly decorated rooms all around. And to top it all off, there has been only a very small increase in room rates for AmiWest! Watch the reservations page for those updated rates and links soon!
